About us

Last updated

Balcony Solar Savings is an independent guide to plug-in (balcony) solar for California households. California's SB 868 opens the market from ,[source] and we want to answer three questions in one place: is this kit allowed here, what will it save on my utility, and do I need an electrician?

How we check facts

  • Every rate, price, certification status and legal point on this site comes from a dated source, listed at the bottom of each page.
  • If we can't verify something, we say "Not verified" or "not yet confirmed" instead of guessing.
  • Kit badges are calculated from our data and never set by hand. No kit is marked as meeting SB 868 until its certification and outage shut-off are verified against a source.
  • We don't publish reviews or testimonials we can't stand behind.

How we make money

Some links to sellers may earn us a commission if you buy, at no cost to you. It never affects rankings or badges. See our affiliate disclosure. We never sell or share your personal information (privacy policy).

The photos on this site are stock photos used under their license. They are illustrations only: they may not show California installs, and they are not photos of any kit we list.

What we don't do

We don't sell kits, give electrical or legal advice, or tell you how to do electrical work. For wiring questions, ask a licensed electrician.
